Would it be weird to work at a fast food place?

Fast food isn't going to help you learn how to cook, and your time would be better spent working somewhere else even if it doesn't have to do with food. You will be able to get a job doing cooking in time, and once you have a degree you will have a better chance of getting a better job :)
