Can you exchange a shirt for a completely different one from the same store?

I got a few shirts from American Eagle that i'm planning on returning(i have the receipt) and i was wondering if i could exchange them for different shirts? i mean i know you can exchange the same shirt for a different size, but what about a completely different shirt?
