Would it be weird to work at a fastfood place?

You are still attending college, so any job experience is good experience. Having said that, you might try to work in a local bakery or a donut shop rather than fast food, but a job is a job. A future employer will see that you had a work ethic and admire that. They don't expect that college part time jobs will be in your exact field.
