Would you give up your dog to move in with your partner of 2 years, and get married?

I have a lovely 7 year old, whom i've had or 4 years and I adore him. I want to move in with my boyfriend, but he has a cat and frequent attempts at socialisation between the two animals had proved unsuccessful. We do not have room to cordon off a particular room or area for each pet. Apart from wanting to make this move, it'd kind of also a necessity, due to financial problems. I',m at a loss for what to do! please help if you can...
